The Telluride Hospital District is seeking applicants to fulfill an open seat on its Board of Directors. Those interested in applying to fill the position are encouraged to submit a letter of interest, containing a brief statement about why you would like to serve on the Telluride Hospital District’s Board of Directors. Be sure to include your contact and qualifying information. Applicants are required to be a registered voter in Colorado and either (i) a resident of the District; or (ii) the owner (or spouse or civil union partner of the owner) of taxable real or personal property located in the District.

Board members are required to attend monthly meetings (currently held virtually on the fourth Friday of each month), as well as special meetings as needed. Board members are expected to actively participate in subcommittees and special projects. The Board’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing for excellent management
  • Establishing executive compensation
  • Establishing major policies for the Telluride Medical Center
  • Approving strategic direction and monitor performance
  • Ensuring financial viability
  • Ensuring clinical quality, patient safety and customer service excellence
  • Ensuring quality of medical staff
  • Monitoring subsidiary organizations’ performance
  • Building relationships
  • Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensuring board effectiveness

The new board member’s term will begin with the September 23, 2022, board meeting, and they will serve until the next regular election in May 2023.
