CEO Blog | John's Farewell
Just over three years ago I arrived in Telluride as the new CEO with the mission to bring to fruition the long-held dream of a new hospital to serve the community.
The goal was to complete the design, construct the facility and move into it within two and a half years.
Afterwards, my wife and I conspired, we’d head directly to a beach to enjoy retired life.
Things don’t always go as planned.
As it turned out there were many obstacles to constructing the hospital at the site generously donated by the Town of Mountain Village. We returned the parcel and set out once again in earnest search for an alternative site. And boy, little did I know, that search would take three years.
The good news is are once again on a path to a new gifted site and a new home for the medical center. And it’s a wonderful location providing with the flexibility to respond to the healthcare needs of today as well as the future. And alas, with a new facility on the horizon, the beach is calling Jeanne and I.
Effective August 11, I will be resign from the CEO post at the Telluride Medical Center, though I will stay on in an advisory roll through the end of the year.
And so, I bid you adieu, thank you so much for all the support you’ve given me during my time here.
And please do welcome Karen Winkelmann, our new CEO effective August 12. Learn more about Karen and what she will bring to the Telluride Medical Center here.
