A grant from the San Miguel County Department of Public Health has allowed Telluride Regional Medical Center to expand access to a wide range of reproductive health services this year.  The services, including contraception, treatment and testing are available to adults and teens, and individuals who are uninsured or unable to pay for these services may qualify for free or discounted care.

“We provide a safe space for minors and adults to receive confidential consultations and care,” said Family Nurse Practitioner Emily McGough. “We are grateful to the County for helping us make sure that no one should have to worry about skipping or postponing the care they need just because they don’t have health insurance.”

The grant covers the following reproductive health services offered at the Med Center:

  • A broad range of contraceptives and contraceptive information including long-acting reversible contraception (LARC)
  • Education and counseling regarding family planning, family planning methods, children spacing, infertility, sterilization and nutrition
  • Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDs
  • Adolescent counseling
  • Clinical follow-up and referral services as needed
  • Cervical cancer screening, counseling and follow-up

The Med Center encourages anyone in need of those services to schedule an appointment before the end of the year when the grant expires. To schedule an appointment please call Telluride Regional Medical Center at (970) 728-3848.
