Andrew Brown, PA-C

What is your role at TRMC?

I am a board certified physician assistant (PA-C).

What is your background?

I had no prior experience in medicine until I took an EMT class through the fire department in 1999. As it turns out, I loved it. After 10 years as an EMT I decided I enrolled in PA school in Boston in 2009. After graduating I moved to Seattle and worked in Emergency Medicine.

What do you love most about living and working in Telluride?

I moved to Telluride to be a ski bum for one winter in 1996. After that first winter I decided to stay for one summer. Well, as is so common, I didn’t leave. My family had the opportunity to return to this amazing place in 2017. Luckily, we had kept and rented out my little house in Mountain Village.

What do you want patients to know about you?

I’ve been working in family practice at The Uncompahgre Medical Center in Norwood since 2017. I’m looking forward to being able to spend more time with my boys and I’m excited to continue and grow my career at TRMC!

Emma Christensen, MA, LPCC

What is your role at TRMC?

I am a Behavioral Health Clinician.

What is your background?

I have a BS in Adventure Education from Green Mountain College and I worked as a competitive freeride ski coach for almost a decade. I recently completed my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adams State University. Before TRMC, I worked as an intern for San Miguel County Juvenile Services as a case manager and in Telluride High School as a mental health counselor.

What do you love most about practicing medicine?

I have always been drawn to building human connection and belonging, and empowering individuals to discover their voice. I am excited to bring this passion to my job at TRMC so I can help people who might be struggling and support them through their challenges.

What do you love most about living and working in Telluride?

The mountains and terrain out here are unbelievably special. Having access right outside the office and home to beautiful trails has been such a privilege.

What do you want patients to know about you?

I am a born and raised Mainer. There is a misconception that if you live in beautiful places, it is impossible to have a bad day, a bad month, or a bad year. It is so important to recognize that  living in a resort town comes with great challenges. I want you to know that I am here to help the community navigate all sorts of days, no matter what.
